"Source North America’s data and communications network was not keeping pace with its bold corporate vision. The network had grown organically with the company, and by 2000 it was an unwieldy collection of unmanaged hubs and switches from multiple vendors. The system was difficult to scale and manage, and suffered from occasional outages that could halt operations and result in lost revenues.
