New Customer Case Study Released

New York BlowerOur latest customer case study features The New York Blower Company (NYB), a leading manufacturer of industrial fans and blowers for over 100 years. Faced with an expensive replacement of its aging phone system, NYB turned to Appia Partner STRYD Technologies with three basic goals in mind:

  • Stop having to revamp or replace its phone system every five years
  • Control overall costs
  • Find a better way to communicate with mobile supervisors on the factory floor

STRYD suggested a hosted VoIP solution from Appia, but New York Blower was skeptical. It had been monitoring VoIP technology for nearly a decade, and had always been unimpressed.

What would it take? See how an unusual demonstration, a sizeable return on investment, and some surprising additional benefits led NYB to implement a custom Appia solution across all three of its facilities in Illinois and Indiana.

Appia Private Network Saves, Secures

With dedicated T-1 connections to Appia, New York Blower enjoys all the benefits of a secure private network for less than it had been paying to use the public Internet.

“We used to have to handle this separately through another provider,” said John Mearns, NYB’s manager of information technology. “The Appia Private Network is much cheaper, and it’s faster, even with phone traffic on it. Our users tell us they have noticed the improvement in performance.

“We like that our business traffic is off the public Internet, and we have redundant connections ready to go in case of any outage. We’re very happy with the Appia Private Network.”

A fully managed, highly secure network that meets the need for availability and speed, and even costs less than using a public network? An Appia Private Network could do the same for you. Talk to your Appia Partner or your Regional Manager for more information.

Four Things Every Business Should Know About Video Conferencing

The Four Ways to Save Video Conferencing” has been a popular destination on our Web site since its release last month. If you’re curious about video communication for your organization, this quick guide is a great place to start.

Of course, there’s no better teacher than experience, and that is especially true of an interactive tool as powerful as video. You can always self-schedule a live demo of our Applause service at www.applausevideo.com, or contact Mike Pfannenstiel at 877-277-4297, ext. 174.

TecHints: Phones in Noisy Places

Cisco IP PhoneIn busy workshops and warehouses, it can be hard to hear a phone ring. Luckily, there are a lot of products on the market that can help to overcome a noisy environment.

External amplified phone ringers start at under $20. Many can be mounted on a wall and include a flashing light that signals a call. A Cisco Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) can connect any of these devices to an IP phone.
