Less Ringing in the New Year

 

Many organizations use line groups and hunt groups to organize and prioritize their incoming calls. For example, one department may want all the phones to ring at once, another may prefer a top-down approach (first choice, second choice, etc.), and another may want the call routed to whichever line has been idle the longest. Line and hunt groups get it done.

 

But what if you need to temporarily stop one of these lines from ringing at all?

 

We now offer users the ability to log in and out of the group as necessary. When one user log outs for lunch, the system routes calls to the next available user until he returns. The same goes for meetings, sick days, vacations, and anything else that leaves a phone unattended.

Network Status

 

A report on Appia network status — where we post information concerning our operations centers in Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New York, and St. Louis — is now available.

 

To view updates, log in to Appia Customer Care and click ‘Network Status Updates’ on the left side of the page.

Click-to-Dial Instructions Now Online

 

Our new Click-to-Dial from Outlook feature has been a big hit! In case you missed it last month, it works like this:

  1. Open your 'Contacts' list in Outlook
  2. Right-click on the contact you want to call and select 'Call Contact' from the pop-up menu
  3. Click 'Start Call.' Your IP phone will go right to speakerphone and dial the number for you

Instructions to set it up are now available online. Just log in to Appia Customer Care and follow the 'Click-to-Dial from Outlook' link. Please note that Click-to-Dial works well on XP with Office 2000 and 2003. You may find that it does not work with Vista and Office 2007.

 

The service is free to current Appia customers unless you need our help setting it up. If so, there is a nominal one-time charge of $8. Contact Appia Support at 877-277-4297, option 2, or email support@appiaservices.com for assistance.
