Managed Services Monthly
Get $500 With Appia’s New Customer Referral Program
Your organization will receive $250 off its monthly Appia invoice and you will receive a $250 VISA gift card when an organization you refer joins the Appia customer family.
Perhaps you know someone who works for a company or organization that:
- Is moving, or opening a new location
- Would like to save money with free calling between locations
- Wants to consolidate their voice, data, and video services into one network with one vendor to manage
- Has an overworked IT staff who would benefit from outsourcing day-to-day upkeep
Making a referral is easy. Just send an email to referral(at)appiaservices.com. Please provide the referrer’s name, organization, phone number, and email address.
Area Code Scam
An email has been circulating for some years regarding calls to area code 809 and others.
The email warns that you will receive a message asking you to call a number in the 809 area code. You make the call, and when you get your bill you will have tens of thousands of dollars in legitimate international call charges.
This scam is real, but:
- Most phone numbers in the Caribbean are legitimate phone numbers, not part of a scam
- A victim might be taken for $25 or $100 dollars, but not for the vast amounts cited in the warning
- This scam is rare, and most Americans never encounter it.

Protect your network
Networks are not only made up devices, of course, but they are also made up of people. Users download programs they should not download; open email that contains worms and viruses, and hackers get into servers to which they should not have access.
Typically, network security comprises separate hardware and software products that address different points of vulnerability. This “point-product” approach is costly, frustrating to manage, and does not allow for individual user access requirements.
AppiaSecure takes a whole new approach. This patent-pending solution uses digital certificates to control both internal and external access to the network. When users log in, AppiaSecure checks whether operating system patches and anti-virus definitions are up to date. It also verifies that the applications users have installed on their PCs are allowed on the network.
User accounts and certificate settings are managed through AppiaSecure’s Web-based interface. The solution’s secure portal allows IT executives to establish access levels for network administrators, who then set the policies for individual users.
Once logged in, AppiaSecure controls the user’s access to email, the Internet, internal servers, and more, based on the permissions that network administrators set. It also limits access by users outside the network and records intrusion attempts.
We designed AppiaSecure with the small to mid-sized organization in mind; they have small IT staffs, who are already overburdened with other responsibilities. AppiaSecure gives them the tools they need to keep their networks secure at a low cost and with relatively little administration.
