WANCare Proves Its Worth Once Again
Last month, Appia’s WANCare service detected a fan failure on a customer router. It was only one fan out of three — a small problem, but thanks to early notice from WANCare, it stayed that way.

In most business networks today, types of users are not identified, opening the door for mischief, misuse, mistakes, or worse. Gartner sent us their latest research on the perils of so many “blind” networks and gave this advice:
“Adding identity awareness to the network adds visibility into ‘who is doing what on the network.’ Network managers can monitor user traffic and enforce identity-based policies by integrating network access control and identity and access management technologies to build identity-aware networks.”

Dialing ‘9’ to get an outside line is a common component of many phone systems, but if that 9 is accidentally followed by two 1s, the rest of the digits are ignored and the call is placed to 911.
Always dial carefully, especially when programming numbers for call forwarding. If you ever do accidentally call 911 from any phone, stay on the line and tell the operator; you’ll save them some time and prevent any emergency responders from being dispatched.
