This year’s flu season is already shaping up to be one of the most disruptive in recent memory. Is your staff prepared to work offsite as needed?
Teleworking contingencies start with communication, and we can make it easier for you to take your office anywhere. Here are a few tips.
Your IP phone is mobile: For starters, you no longer need a Cisco router to use your IP phone offsite. With some basic configuration, home users and other remote staff can take advantage of your full feature set from anywhere with just an IP phone and an Internet connection.
Expecting the unexpected: If your office is ever off-limits or otherwise disabled, an Appia disaster recovery plan can keep your phones up and your staff working. Hosted auto-attendant and voicemail capabilities carry on as normal, and calls can be automatically routed to alternative numbers of your choice (branch offices, home or mobile phones, etc.).
See what you’re missing: Appia’s video conferencing solutions aren’t just for boardrooms. Unlike other offerings, Appia can extend real-time video, voice and desktop sharing capabilities to as many remote users as you wish, inside or outside your organization, with just a free software download to a PC. If some users don’t have access to the right bandwidth or equipment, Appia Video Communicator sessions can also be joined by phone.
Talk to your Appia Partner or your Regional Manager for more innovative ways to help enable remote workers and cut costs.
Audio Conferencing Now 5.9 Cents or Less
Our reservationless audio conferencing service is another great way to stay in touch from anywhere, and the price has dropped from 7.5 cents per minute to only 5.9 cents, including usage, toll-free access, recording and more!
Better yet, unlimited audio conferencing can be FREE in months when you spend at least $750 on other Appia services. For free service:
- Only other Appia services count toward the $750 monthly spend. Third-party services (e.g., T-1s, usage, and DIDs) are excluded
- You can use your IP phone (extension 6700) or the direct-dial number (231-929-6700) to access the conference bridge for free. Toll-free access (800-910-8278) is billed at 2.5 cents per minute.
Set-up is always free. Contact your Appia Partner or your Regional Manager if you have any questions or need more information. To set up an account or add additional conference bridges, contact Patty Bell-Johnson at 877-277-4297.
Automatic ringdown phone circuits provide instant, no-dial connectivity: when one line is picked up, the phone on the other end rings immediately.
These automatic “hotlines” have a wide range of applications. Some common examples include:
- After-hours access to doormen, security or emergency personnel
- Very frequent calls from one site to another, such as summoning a taxi to a hotel or staff to a help desk
- Announcing arrivals at service entrances (gates, warehouses, etc.)
- Easy, no-dial contact for visitors, such as a connection from a common lobby directly to your receptionist
- Financial traders, who use private line auto ringdown (PLAR) circuits to enable instant contact between managers and traders on the floor. (Appia can give an ordinary IP phone the same auto ringdown capabilities as a trading turret, but at significantly lower cost. Learn more here.)
If you could use a hotline, talk to your Appia Partner or your Regional Manager for suggestions and more information.
