“We’re really too small to have all the technology people on staff to do IP telephony, yet we want to have a nationwide, best-in-class phone system. With Appia, we get the best of both worlds, and I have complete peace of mind. It’s the perfect solution for a company that wants to focus on its customers and not its phone systems.”

Stopping threats at the network door
Appia’s Intrusion Protection System (IPS) is signature-based technology that currently contains over 1,000 signatures. Signatures are updated as new vulnerabilities are discovered. IPS compares the list of signatures with network activity. When a match is found, the IPS sensor takes action, such as logging the event, sending an alert, or automatically blocking.
IPS can be applied on a customer by customer basis, and is offered as part of Appia’s LANCare service or as a stand-alone service.
Example signatures:
- Name: Jolt2 Fragment Reassembly DoS attack
- Action: Deny packet, alert, and log event
- Name: IP Fragment Overwrite - Data is Overwritten
- Action: Deny packet, alert, and log event
- Name: Microsoft Exchange SMTP Overflow
- Action: Alert and log event
